Motherhood is a blessing on so many levels. When you hold your baby in your arms, you are almost certain there is nothing or no one you can love more. But moms, lets be honest, as time goes by and the initial oxytocin wears off you will find yourself living amidst a mountain of soiled baby clothes, diapers, and general chaos. At that very moment there are certain, shall we say thoughts that cross every tired mommy’s mind.

Here are 10 of those thoughts (picked from a seemingly endless list) that refuses to leave our mind on yet another never ending day.

1. The Tacit Rule Made By Kids: Mom is most loved on weekdays and most hated on weekends. Simply because weekends are all about the Dads.

2. Don’t Have a Bogey Man? Always Scare With Mom: ‘Don’t do this or I’ll tell your mother’. ‘Go ask your mom if you can do that’. ‘I am sure Mom is not going to like what you are doing’. Why do all disciplinary phrases begin and end with Mom? The world is used to only one Gabbar Singh anyway!

3. Think You Finally Have a Bond With Your Child? Think Again!: Just when you feel your child is well settled with you and needs you around for everything, she moves on to greener pastures. Also known as the domestic help or grandparents, who will do her every bidding.

4. Why Are You Making Her Cry?: This question rears its ugly head every time your child cries and you happen to be within a one mile radius of your child. “Why are you making her cry?” ” Because I have no other work for god sake!”

5. The Resemblance Conundrum: Why do we get that not-so-sure-look on our face when someone says, “Oh your daughter looks exactly like you!” Shouldn’t we take that as a compliment instead of our ready quip – “ Oh really! You are the first one to say thatâ€_x009d_.

6. The Song Void: You are playing Antakshari at a house party (obviously you are not allowed in pubs anymore) and the only songs that come to mind are nursery rhymes.

7. Falling In Our Midst: Your child will fall, get hurt, scratched, bruised always on your watch and never when you are not around.

8. Wasted Free Time: With your kids around you have no time for yourself, but when they are away for a sleepover or at their grandparents place, suddenly there is nothing on your to-do list. It is almost like you have lost the ability to live alone.

9. Hired Help aka Dad: When you hear a friend’s husband say, “My wife is away at work and I am babysitting the kids today.” Most people react by wishing luck for the tough task ahead. Why? Is it a tough job to handle your own kids? If it is a tough job, then certainly Moms need a break every weekend.

10. Why can’t the same people wish us all the luck when our husbands are away? Oh, wait! Moms can never babysit their own kids right?
