Shape Scavenger Hunt

To set up this activity, draw various shapes on different sheets of paper. Collect various objects from around the house and have your child pick the objects one by one, identify the shape and put it on the respective shapes drawn on the paper. Roll The Shape Dice

Draw various shapes on each side of a cardboard box. Have your child roll the dice and identify the shape. Take the game the next level by having your child count the number of sides the shape rolled out on the dice has. Play hopscotch and move that many places. Learn more here.

Shape Printing

Simply cut down a cardboard tube into similar length portions and then carefully bend and fold each one to represent 6 different shapes – circle, square, rectangle, triangle, heart and star. Shape Puppets

Playing with puppets helps stimulate children’s imagination, encourage creative play and discovery. Use craft foam cards for the body, face and hands and glue them onto ice cream sticks. Add googly eyes, pipe cleaners for the arms and some coloured shoelaces. You can also use combination of shoelaces and pipe cleaners for certain puppet’s hair, just for fun. Feed The Alien

Cut out a hole in Pringle tins representing various shapes which would serve as the mouth for hungry alien. Fish for Shapes

A super cute and great idea that would work for learning your shapes in a fun way. Cut out a bunch of fish from construction paper and draw shapes on them. You could also laminate them. Attach a paperclip on each of them and have your children fish for the shapes with a stick with a magnet attached to it.

Setting up sensory bin activities for your child is a great way to ensure all round development of sensory skills of your toddler. It not only helps your child various activities in a fun way but also keeps them engaged for a long period of time. To set up this activity you will need a small tub, 4 small containers, handy scoopers,  shape buttons and black aquarium rocks. Works great to develop the fine motor skills while the child learns how much pressure is required to get the impressions on the paper. Use these stamped papers to wrap gifts.
