I’m not really a cereal and milk kind of person. I like my eggs and toast with a hot cup of coffee in the mornings. However, granola which is a super healthy breakfast cereal is something I can eat pretty much all day. It has all my favourite ingredients – almonds, raisins, walnuts, cinnamon and honey. Nuts as most of you are aware, have it all!! Rich in energy, protein, packed with antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and the much discussed Omega-3 fatty acids, nuts are crunchy and wonderful to munch on. Since granola is made with oats, it’s an excellent source of iron and dietary fibre.

So I’ve been picking up granola from the market for the family for a while now. Recently I realized that making my own granola was just so easy.

At KSP we always like to make life easier and healthier for you and your family, so we wanted to share our Nutty, No Sugar Homemade Granola recipe made two ways with you. What is important is all the ingredients are available in India and is most suited for Indian families.

Nutty Cranberry and Raisin Granola

Ingredients

2 cups of Old Fashion Oats
1 cup of Sliced Almonds & Walnuts
1/2 cup of Dried Cranberries & Dark Raisins
1 Tbsp Brown Sugar
1/4  cup of Honey or Maple Syrup
3 Tsp Vegetable Oil
½ tsp of Vanilla Extract
¼ tsp of Salt

Method

  • Preheat your oven to 175° C.
  • Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl.
  • Put the mixture on a baking tray and bake for 30-40 minutes.
  • Check your mixture every 10 minutes and give it a good fix to make sure it doesn’t burn and get a nice golden brown colour on them.

Once done, let it cool down and put it into a bottle. Your granola is ready.

Nutty Chocolate Chip and Hazelnut Granola

Ingredients

2 cups of Old Fashion Oats

1 cup of  Chopped Hazelnuts
1/2 cup of seeds – Sunflower, Watermelon and Sesame

1/2 cup Unsweetened Chocolate Chips

¼ tsp of Salt
1 Tsp Maple Syrup

Method

  • Preheat your oven to 175° C.
  • Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl except the chocolate chips.
  • Put the mixture on a baking tray and bake for 30-40 minutes.
  • After 25 minutes add the chocolate chips to the mixture.
  • Check your mixture every 10 minutes and give it a good fix to make sure it doesn’t burn and get a nice golden brown colour on them.

Once done, let it cool down and put it into a bottle.
