As a stay at home mom, I sometimes rue that I don't know when 24 hours have passed me by. I'm known to joke with friends that I do sit-ups when I feed my kids and lunges when I put their clothes on. And of course, the weekly, Friday night special — let loose and dance party!

But jokes aside, I also know how important it is to take care of my health and that's why you should let technology help you! I workout every day, as part of the #KSPMomsChallenge. Every parent on the planet will vouch for the fact that we need as much help as we can get to be able to do something for ourselves.

KSP Exclusive: Yasmin Karachiwala On What You Should (And Shouldn't) Do To Stay Fit

Here's how to make the digits work for you.

Get motivated: This is the first and most important step and should take most of your energy (pun intended!). Set a target that works best for you. Block an appointment on your calendar and make that reminder ring. You could pin or create a mood board of things you want to get for yourself as soon as you lose those x number of kilos. A lot of fitness enthusiasts swear by the wearable technology and popular ones like FitBit work really well to motivate you. So if you need a prod to get off that couch, that's exactly what FitBit's idle alert will do. If you are the sort that wants a medal for every small achievement, well, FitBit does that too!

Sleep better: Sounds strange in an article about fitness doesn't it? But research shows a good, adequate amount of sleep is needed to rejuvenate and give muscles time to rebuild and heal. How do you know if you are getting the best out of your rest? Your FitBit helps you with that too! The technology can read all about your sleep — if you toss and turn too much or you slip into a deep, restful sleep. This way you can make sure you are rested enough to stick to your exercise routine.

Set achievable goals: Let's face it, we are parents! We can't just drop everything and get on the fitness horse, there are mouths to be fed and clothes to be cleaned! But that doesn't mean we can't set goals for ourselves. Don't think of it as trying to lose 20 kilos in six months, but start small — 2 kilos a week, or increasing your level of stamina — whatever your goal, set it on your FitBit and let it remind you and motivate you to reach your goal.

Bonus TIP! Get everything you need in one place: No one likes to head to the gym or for a run with a 100 things in hand — all of us would like our music, our motivation, our trackers, our analytics all in one place. With the new and improved FitBit that's exactly what you get. Your workout music, heart rate technology, a personal trainer with exciting new workouts, and even a tracker that is designed for female users to monitor and track their cycle — all in one place!

With these tips, there are no excuses left! Make sure you are part of the #KSPMomsChallenge so you can not only set a wonderful, healthy example for your kids, but you can be a better parent for them.
