  1. 05.00 – 07.00 AM: Every family wakes up, reads the papers, indulges in morning cuddles and that is exactly what we do. The kids just jump into our bed for morning hugs, cuddles or just ensure they wake us up and we just spend a few minutes in bed together. This way you have a great morning filled with minutes you spent with your family instead of surfing your Facebook feed to see who did what last night.
  2. 05.30 – 07.00 PM: This is the time I don’t carry my phone and if you see a mom who runs really fast, or cycles on her kids bikes then well that’s me. I may be caught refereeing kabbadi, playing killer, climbing jungle gyms or motivating my kids at swim class. I gather my thoughts, observe kids, unwind for the day, get a second helping of exercise, kiss my kids and just catch up on life and how quickly they are growing up. I know this sounds too much to give up for a lot of working moms who may be getting back from work but try even if it’s fifteen minutes it works.
  3. 07.30 – 09.00 PM: Dinnertime and we make sure we eat together on most days or make it a point that at least one parent is around. Conversations typically range from how was our day, current affairs, jokes the daughter heard at school, her new best friend, how much the two fought and so on and so forth. This also includes the time one of us makes sure we read to the kids before they go to bed.

These may be simple changes but it has made sure we have managed to spend quality time with our kids – successfully while giving them our undivided attention. Try it!
