Here is a quick list of 5 things you can do with your kids that are simple and easy-to-do.

Fun with dough:

Everyone loves playing with modelling dough! The sheer joy that stems from squishing, flattening and rolling dough to desired shapes is unparalleled. With the Faber Castell dough I use with my kids, we make all of my child’s favourite shapes and designs. A house, a park, animals…the possibilities are endless!

Mommy Tip: Make sure to choose a dough that doesn’t stick to fingers and is non toxic.

Crayon art:

I must admit, this activity got me super excited! My child has a bunch of old and unused crayons that he refused to use and I was tired of cleaning up. All I needed was two things to turn these dusty crayons into something absolutely new! Watch this exclusive video from KSP to know how to create the magic!

Mommy Tip: Make sure you are with your kids when they engage in this activity. It’s indeed a lot of fun watching the colours melt and mould into various shapes- but parental guidance is mandatory to use the oven to melt the stuff and also- take a break- and watch the kids enjoy!

Sandpaper art:

Art is not just enjoying the play of colours. Starting your kids early on by exploring different textures helps improve their grasp and finger muscles. Essential hand-eye-coordination and motor skills are also developed with the right use of crayons and colours at a young stage. Using crayons to bring out the colours on a coarse sand paper helps in enhancing your child’s sensorial skills. With Faber-Castell’s first grip crayons that aid in your child’s grip development, you are bound to watch your little one spend hours with them.

Mommy Tip: Help your child try out their favourite crayons on different textures and notice how different the process and end result is. A great idea for a sensory art project for the little hands.

Rock painting:

Take a walk in the great outdoors (this could be your neighbourhood park or just down your street) with a small basket. Encourage your child to look and collect anything that catches their fancy — this could be colourful leaves, smooth rocks, twigs, or branches. Bring them back home and talk about them and paint and repurpose them as beautiful decor for your home!

Mommy Tip: Once your child is done with the activity, make sure you show your appreciation by displaying the artwork as a lovely statement piece in your room, hallway or foyer.

Messy art:

Summer is the only time you are going to be able to do this! Your children will love getting down and messy with the paint and colours and keep themselves busy for hours before you ask them to clean up! Get your child to experiment painting with pom poms, balloons, yarn, feathers and so much more. You will be amazed at the results!

Mommy Tip: Make sure to have huge sheets of paper and use a paint that washes off easily.
