Karwar, Coastal Karnataka

A stunning beach town with an expansive view of the sea horizon, Karwar is the perfect family getaway. Enjoy beach-hopping at Rabindranath Tagore beach, Devbagh beach, and Karwar beach for the most scenic evening views, experiencing the cool ocean breeze against your skin! Want to go sightseeing?

Visit the Rock Stone Garden, Oyster Rock Lighthouse, and the Kali River Garden. Once you’ve completed all this, escape to the lush Kurumgad Island and walk the nature trail, watch the dolphins swim, and even partake in water sports!

Kaas, Maharashtra

If you want to leave the noisy bustle of the city and relax in a paradisiacal town hidden away in Satara, Maharashtra, Kaas is perfect! Home to over 850 species of flowers and butterflies, this town boasts generous stretches of fields full of lush, vibrant greenery. To add to your relaxation, take a short ride to the pristine 100-year-old Kaas lake to watch the sunrise or sunset.

To further whet your palette, go hopping among the breathtaking Vajrai, Ajinkyatara, and Thoseghar waterfalls housed in Kaas.

Ziro, Arunachal Pradesh

At the time of writing this list, Ziro is one of the many regions included in the Tentative List for UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites, if that isn’t enough reason to visit, keep reading! One of the key attractions is the spacious Talley Valley Wildlife Sanctuary which is home to endangered clouded leopards, silver firn trees, rhododendrons, orchids, and bamboo.

While there, explore and understand Paddy cultivation, a profession that most in Ziro tend to take up, at the Tarin Fish Farm.

There is no better place to visit for the marine enthusiast in your family than Havelock Island! After you’re done relaxing by its countless beaches, indulge yourself in scuba diving where you can get especially training beforehand if you are inexperienced.

Follow the marine trail and discover intriguing and diverse marine flora and fauna while surrounded by the atmospheric Mangroves of South Andaman. Lastly, spend the evening cycling around the vast island by joining the Hinterland Cycling Tour hosted by Habitat Institute Activity Centre.

Champaner-Pavagadh, Gujarat

Housing several, if not countless, ruins and historical sites, Champaner in Gujarat is the destination for the history buff in your household! Enrol in the Champaner-Pavagadh archaeological park tour and find yourselves visiting as many historical forts, tombs, and masjids as possible. While there, learn the deeply fascinating history behind them and how they came to be.

Once done, visit the Pavagadh hill to enjoy a quick escape to the trek to the Kalika Mata temple sitting atop a backdrop of the lush Champaner.
