Geography was always my favourite subject in school. Colouring the maps, marking the various countries, the globe had always fascinated me. And as a student, I used to wonder how great it would be if one could travel to all places and witness everything we learned for real!  As a parent, am not too sure how that travel dream of mine will shape up, but am sure I can enjoy teaching my child geography the fun way it was meant to be! Easy activities to put your kids on the world map, literally!

Balloon Globe

Help your kids create their own globe using simple balloons and continent-cut outs. You can make separate balloons for each continent and teach your child about each of them!

Build A World Map

Why settle for store-made maps to teach kids when you can have an interesting activity with your kids by building a world map yourself! Get the outlines of the continents traced and cut and start pasting them on a sheet to teach kids about each continent on the world map.  Read more here.

Papermache Globe

Time to sit down with the kids and have fun making your own globes. All you need to make a globe is a paper-mache in the shape of a ball that is made sturdy. Get your kids to paint it blue. Have the cut-outs of the various continents ready. Once the paint dries, teach your kids about pasting the various continents on your DIY globe! Read more here.

Me On The Map

A very easy way to teach kids geography by using simple stacking cups lying at home. Get your kids to colour and label each cup as planet, continents, country, etc. Once they are done explain how the universe is made of smaller units with these stacking cups! Flags Of The World

This is an easy and interesting way to teach kids the flags of the world. Instead of just teaching them the flag colour of each country, get them to learn the countries by placing the right flag on top of the labelled country. Make sure you have some simple flag sticks and flags printed and stuck to these sticks and a big world map to hold the flags of all countries. Land, Air & Water

A simple and engaging task to teach kids all about land, air and water and the animals that reside in these. Get your kids to collect some soil and water (and air!) in three jars named Land, Air and Water. Once they are done, get them to think and sort animals accordingly. For eg – fish for water, birds for air and cow for land. Read more here.
