The admissions to the best schools in the country have already begun and parents are doing everything they can to make the process simple and easy for them. That includes making a list of the schools they prefer- the essential documents needed for ID proof and address proof and making sure they do their background research right.

And in the wake of this- the Supreme Court verdict on Aadhaar yesterday has come as a relief for most parents who are running from pillar to post arranging it for everyone in their family.

What does the verdict state?

  • The verdict clearly mentions that Aadhaar card cannot be made mandatory for school admissions and no organisation can deny any child the right to admission on the grounds of not having an Aadhaar card.
  • The SC also ruled that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), University Grants Commission (UGC) cannot make Aadhaar mandatory.

The verdict also states that the Aadhaar card is not mandatory to be linked to mobile numbers or bank accounts but is essential for filing tax returns and is to be linked with one's PAN card.
