1. On Not Being A Hands-On Father

Aamir has had the privilege of becoming a father thrice but he also admits that like in everything, the first experience was like no other. From shooting only for 36 days to attending to sudden cries and getting nervous about little things, Aamir was there 328 days when Junaid was born. However, the actor also admits that the nervousness and excitement had calmed down when Ira and Azad were born. Also, talking about Kiran and Reena, Aamir confesses that both of them have been a hands-on mother and that he has not been a hands-on father.

I’ve to admit I’m not someone who’s fully there mentally most of the time. Kiran is a hands-on mother. Reena was also a hands-on mother. I was not such a hands-on father except for Junaid during that first one year.

2. On Spending Time With Azad

Aamir points out that he does two things for Azad – Firstly, take him to play tennis every day at 4 pm, where he would sit for an hour and watch his little sportsman play. He would also try and come back home by 7 so that he gets to have dinner with Azad. After this, there is a family ritual of story reading which happens when Kiran, Aamir and Azad are together in bed.

He goes to school once in a while to drop his son and also admits that he is clearly not involved in Azad’s day to day activities.

By and large I don’t know his daily activities. So that’s not hands on. Hands-on is when you’re sharing equal responsibilities with your partner in bringing up the child. Honestly, I’m not sharing that.

I’m more excited about the things I’m doing, the world that I’m in.

4. On His Downtime

When Aamir is not shooting, he likes to wrap up work by 6:30 PM and head home to spend time with Kiran and Azad. Kiran likes to go out and do a little jig too. However, the Dangal star does not like to dance and so his wife goes out with her friends. Aamir prefers to stay at home and maybe read a book!

I hate dancing so she goes out with her friends. Also when I go out it becomes difficult for me.
