Kids today have passion, drive and creative skills which are comparable to a lot of adults out there. It’s to channel and unfurl these talents that adidas, one of the leaders in sportswear and KidZania, a global indoor theme park partnered up to unleash some creativity with their young fans. They held a nation-wide contest called #adidiasbyme for children earlier this year during the summer break.

What was the contest all about?

adidas and KidZania are very strong believers in the right of creativity and why children should be given an opportunity to explore and bring out their hidden creative talents. With this unique initiative, adidas and Kidzania were able to connect activity with the real world.

Children were invited to come to KidZania Mumbai and Delhi-NCR and create their own adidas shoe design – role play Chief Shoe Designer for adidas! Those who could not make it to the venues were given the option to submit their entries online. They had to create their own patterns and colour it up.

Viraj Jit Singh, CMO, KidZania shared why they partnered up with adidas

“adidas is the brand for creator’s and the #adidasbyme initiative at KidZania is a perfect example of true open source which enthused young athletes to unleash their creativity. We are delighted with the overwhelming response from over 12,000 extremely talented kids with remarkable design sensibilities. adidas is excited that we have been able to create shoes for three of these creators who will receive their personalized shoe today”

And the winners are:

It was extremely difficult for the adidas team to shortlist winners from the 12,000 entries that they received. But they finally managed to bring it down to 10 names and those were further shortlisted to the top 3. So, on the occasion of Children’s Day, 3 children’s dreams turned into reality. The top 3 winners of the contest got the opportunity to see their design created into real shoes. The shoes were presented to the winners at an award ceremony on Children’s Day.

The winner of the contest was a very confident 13 year old from Noida, Navya Singh. She took her inspiration from mehendi designs and she loves the colours green, blue and yellow.

She was followed by a timid 11-year-old Priyanshi Seth from Ghaziabad who told us that her father inspired her to create and follow her passion for drawing. But her design was anything but timid – vibrant and flamboyant are the words that come to my mind.

Khushali Nahar who is 12 years old and flew in from Pune with her parents for the ceremony loves polka dots and her design speaks volumes with the depth of colour and shading.
