Do you remember when you first heard of the massive waste crisis we have put ourselves in the middle of? It’s been only a few years since I really started living sustainably but some of us may not know it still, that’s exactly why it’s so important to be aware and include others in our fight against plastic waste.

But back in 2015 when most of them hadn’t even heard of the waste crisis and sustainable lifestyles, Amita founded her company based on upcycling plastics into useful products.

“Many organisations are now doing plastic weaving but it is not spun to this scale. However, people must realise that they must reduce the use of plastic. That is the only way forward.”

Originally an I.T. engineer,  Amita Deshpande – entrepreneur, founder of ReCharkha and eco-warrior left her well-paying job in the States to make a difference and impact livelihoods in her native Dadra Nagar Haveli.

“My aim was to come up with a pragmatic solution that was sustainable, innovative and created livelihoods for rural people while tackling the problem of plastic waste.”

Together, Mansi Zaveri, founder of Kidsstoppress.com and Amita Deshpande discuss the topic of sustainability and waste management.

Amita said it best..

“It is important to ensure that the collected and segregated plastic waste is not dumped somewhere else. It is important to recycle in such a way that it does not again pollute some other space.”

The more I read about it I wanted to be the solution and not the problem
