As mothers of the current generation kids, isn't it important to raise our kids in a fair and equal way?

Are we ready to raise our sons actually on par with our daughters?

One of the prime factors for the existing inequality in today's is the lack of responsibility among the boys in helping the girls share the load when it comes to household chores. It is always easy to talk about equality but it is also important to practice it in our very own home. Start the change you wish to see in the society in your homes first.

In 2015, 79% men thought household chores are a woman's job, in 2016, 63% married men thought household chores are a woman's/daughter's job and the 'outside work is a man's job and in 2018 52% thought the same.

Even though we see a decline in these rates in the current year and a small change in perception in society, we are still miles away from the ideal state of an equal future. Ariel is helping by unearthing the reality of inequality over the last couple of years and they have been taking steps to raise the question among parents and the society to think right and better when it comes to sharing the household load in a fair and square manner. This recent event is a testimony to that.

The Guinness World Record event:

Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor led by example as over 400 sons took up household chores as part of the culmination of Ariel's Sons #ShareTheLoad. They achieved a Guinness World Record certificate by imparting the largest laundry lesson the sons of today. The campaign has garnered 73 million views nationally and they have received tremendous support with a host of famous faces and diverse partners joining to demonstrate their support like Rajkumar Rao, Mandira Bedi, Neha Dhupia, etc.

Anil Kapoor urged the current generation to raise sons like they have been raising their daughters – so we do our role right in helping develop an equal society for our kids in the future. As a dad of two daughters and a son, Anil Kapoor confidently said that as a parent, he has ensured their kids were brought up to share the load and divide the work equally, irrespective of their gender. As a mom of a young boy, Mandira Bedi stressed upon the need to start it right from a young age to help mould the kids and make them understand their role in their homes.
