Kids nowadays are living a very active life online. As a parent, we need to see beyond what they are posting. Their online self is very different from their real life, and as their guardians, it is our job to protect them.

9 in 10 parents (89%) fear for their child's safety online, specifically on social media apps, according to a recent survey.

Of the parents surveyed, 39% find it difficult to moderate their child’s screen time.

Interestingly, 24% are unsure if their child’s social media set to private, while only 64% of parents are certain that their child has a locked/private account.

As a parent, those stats have me worried. On Safer Internet Day today, Mansi Zaveri of Kidsstoppress will be going live with Tara Bedi. She’s the Public Policy and Community Outreach Manager for Instagram in India.

Instagram has launched its Parents Guide For India to help our younger generation stay safe and to educate parents about the safety features that exist on the platform.

From using gadgets as pacifiers to exposing your child to them for educational purposes, there are a ton of reasons you let your child use a gadget. With social distancing being a priority and in the times of a lockdown, children are adjusted to online learning models, including educational apps, video tutorials and entertaining games.

Instagram's Parent Guide for India is aimed at helping young people be safe, by informing parents about all the safety features that exist on the platform.
