When you watch this video you will have a lot of questions and they will race very quickly through your mind. Questions you sometime don’t want to answer. Questions which have no wrong or right answers.
The reason I say no wrong and right answers is because every family, parent and child is different. What remains the same is parenting and a brilliant journey with your kids and how much time you choose to travel on that journey with them.
With rising costs and ambitions it’s hard to be a single income household but there has to be a balance and each family has to find their own. This ad was made by Ogilvy & Mather for the Asia Pacific Market for the workforce urging employers to give them a day off.
Eugene Cheong, chief creative officer of Ogilvy & Mather Asia Pacific, said, “we focused the creative strategy on tapping into modern parents’ fear of missing out. By showing how parents are losing out on their relationship with their children by always requiring their domestic worker to be around, we reposition their day off as an opportunity to enhance family bonding. We didn’t want to paralyse the audience with the enormity of an unsolvable problem,â€_x009d_ Cheong said.
It makes me wonder how much is enough and how much should be outsourced? How much time in a day is enough and how are you as a parent going to find that balance.
While this video highlights only the moms I would also like to ask the dads how much time are you spending with your children and how much is enough?
