If you are parent then self doubt is your second friend. There is no way that you can feel confident all the time. Parenting is like navigating a field full of landmines, you step on some and you avoid the others. I am a confident parent but the choices and decisions you make our shaping somebody else’s future. These are not things you will ever be able to reverse. I know that my child will always hold me responsible for who she grows up to be. I also know the world will hold us responsible for the citizen she turns out to be.
1. Are we doing the right thing?: Every single decision we as parents take is questioned. We doubt ourselves and every other decision because we just feel we are never doing the right thing.

2. Are we doing enough?: Being parents we want to do the most for our kids. We want to be able to give them everything so they never feel deprived. But the continuous doubt of whether its enough will always be there. With the paradox of choice you may feel left out as a parent and the guilt of your kid being left out will haunt you more than you can think.

3. Are we doing things right?: First time parents will relate to this. It is a constant question they ask themselves at every step. But it is not just them, experienced parents will relate to this question too!

4. Will our kids value and realize all the effort we have put in?: Will they? When you’ve put your career on a long hold and are looking for options that might just be good enough to increase your self worth, fund your shopping bills and keep you occupied you know you’ve given up something. Don’t judge me when I say it means much because it does to me and it may always will. So each time I spend hours waiting for my daughter to learn something I wonder what will the result be. Yes I am a materialistic parent and being result oriented is almost second nature to me.

5. Is she eating enough?/Am I a good parent?:Â Now which parent can safely say they have not thought about this? The point is I just can’t seem to find a balance between all that’s in my head and what eventually gets done. Recipes, pinterest and whatsapp messages excite me for a day and then life goes back to what is comfort and easy to produce. The balance between healthy food and food that is exciting for kids to eat is tricky and every parent strives to achieve it.
