I always enjoyed the Berenstain Bears series of books as I was growing up. Now I’m enjoying them again as I read them to my daughter. Each book contains a small lesson, and the book I read this weekend was GO To The Doctor. I haven’t seen them around to buy, but I pick them up at READING TREE and its a delight.  I forgot how educational they are, of course when you are a kid you don’t see the symbolism in books that you absolutely love but now that I look back at them they make me laugh.

The book is fairly easy and takes children through a journey of how they need to visit their Doctors for a regular check- up. Sister Bear is a little averse to it but how mama & papa bear comfort their babies into a doctors visit and how its so non threatening.

The bears set out in their little car and reach their doctors clinic. Concepts of

  • Waiting Room
  •  Appointment
  • Different patients one sees at the doctor
  • Measuring height
  • Weight
  • Stethoscope
  • Checking/Examining
  • Thermometer & normal temperature
  • Checking of the mouth/Ears/Nose
  • Checking of Eyesight
  • Vaccination

Its a fun book with nice bright pictures. The pictures are large and the kids enjoy reading about the bears and their experiences. You could also visit the bears at http://www.randomhouse.com/kids/berenstainbears/catalog/

Review: Its a must borrow
