Bliss balls are a versatile healthy treat that can be made in so many different ways! They are often filled with energy-boosting ingredients, such as dates and nuts which make them perfect.

In keeping with the festive spirit, I have given them a Christmas-y twist. The kids are going to gobble them just because of how cute they look. And even if they want o to have more than one you don’t have to worry because these are packed with nutrition.

These are perfect as a 4 PM snack when hunger hits or just when you need something to tide you over on the way back from school on the bus.

So let’s get started.

Ingredients:

  • 2 Cups Roasted Peanuts
  • 10-15 seedless Dates soaked in warm water for 30 minutes
  • 1 Tbsp Cocoa (Unsweetened)
  • 1 Cup Assorted Dry Fruits (Cashews, almonds, Pistachios, walnuts)
  • 1 Tsp Cinnamon Powder
  • 1 Tsp Vanilla Extract 
  • 1 Tsp Cardamom Powder 
  • 1 Tbsp Avocado Oil/ Coconut Oil 
  • 2 Tsp Powdered Jaggery 
  • Handful of Melon seeds
  • Pomegranate

Method

  • In a blender put the roasted peanuts, dry fruits, cocoa powder, dates, cinnamon powder, cardamom powder, vanilla extract, powdered jaggery, avocado oil
  • blend it to somewhere in between coarse to a fine powder 
  • The mix should come together when pressed.
  • Add oil to add moisture to the bliss balls. Use any neutral oil of your choice. 
  • Transfer this blended mixture to a bowl & start forming balls out of the mixture. 
  • Press in the melon seeds to make reindeer eyes
  • Make reindeer nose -press in pomegranate arils gently
  • Now poke in the antlers carefully and make sure the bliss balls don’t crumble.
  • You can make chocolate or caramel antlers

For Caramel Antlers 

Ingredients

  • 1/2 Cup Sugar
  • 1.5 Tbsp Water

Method

  • In a saucepan heat ½ cup sugar and add 1.5 tbsps of water.
  • Swirl the pan and do not stir with a spoon immediately
  • The mixture will start bubbling
  • Keep swirling the pan and keep switching the flame between medium to high.
  • The mixture will start caramelizing and changing its colour to deep dark brown.
  • Turn off the flame once the caramelized sugar starts becoming a little thick in consistency.
  • Take a spoon and make antler shapes on a parchment paper
  • Once the caramel cools off the antlers will come off easily.
  • You may make chocolate sauce antlers too.
