We grew up reading many stories on mythologyThey would be either read by our grandmoms or our parents would research for hours to find us the right books we should read. Indian mythology has so much to teach to our children but it is very hard to get them hooked on to it. We have taken this lockdown to introduce things to our children that were on our wish list and with Mahabharata and Ramayana coming on the TV  – it has just become easier.

But we constantly think about – will they understand the plot, is it relevant for the 21st century, should they read real-life heroes or this? will they resonate with the characters and more. We had done a conversation with India's best-selling authour Devdutt Pattanaik and he had a very interesting take on why should we introduce it to our children. One of the things he said that has stuck with me is that "Indian Mythology goes way beyond good and evil". Scroll down and find out which books we recommend to be in your child's library and what Devdutt Pattanaik has to say about introducing mythology to your kids!
