“I don’t want to be the nagging or hovering parent. But how do I ensure my child is safe on Instagram?”
This was one of the most repeated questions we got, when we announced that we were doing a webinar on The Millennial Parent’s Guide To Instagram. Every parent expects nothing but the best for their children, especially when it comes to shielding them in a world of cyberbullies and trolls.
We spoke to you earlier about the Parental Supervision Tools launched by Instagram India that helps parents supervise and monitor their child’s online usage. But is this something we do behind their back or track them? Nope. Head of Public Policy, Instagram India, Natasha Jog, clarified this point for us, in detail in the webinar that we recently conducted. She clarified on how the tools are not a back-door entry to your child’s Instagram usage. You are not invading their privacy or checking without their consent. These tools help supervise with their consent- which makes raising digitally aware children, imperative.
