Every child who drops off from school, has a heart-wrenching story and reason behind it. The slum kids of Mumbai- who have spent their childhood around slum lords, begin idolizing them and in their pursuit to quick fame in the society, give up education without a second tought. Sadly, this is the case with many children across the country. Door Step School– an organization that aims to promote literacy among the marginalized sections of the society for almost three decades now, decided to do something different.
They tied up with FCB India and created an innovative idea this year. They named the slum streets after school kids. The publicly celebrated road-naming ceremonies gave instant fame and respect to the kids who chose the right path. This encouraged the children to pursue education and achieve in life and live with pride in their houses, on the same streets, named after them!
