KSP: Share with us your learnings & response from Elf for a day?
KC: We received a heartfelt response from our first production ‘Elf for a day’. Kids were totally mesmerized by the magical journey to the North Pole. Creating a play for kids is very challenging as kids are the biggest critics. They are totally pure and innocent and their decisions cannot be influenced. Hence quality has to be the top priority while making a play. Every aspect of a kids production be it music, lights, costume or sets play a big role.
KSP: What has changed in the theatre /edutainment industry for kids between Dec 12 & Jan 14?
KC: There is definitely more awareness in the kids theatre industry.  The young Indian parent today is looking at everything almost world-class for their child. Parents like to provide their kids with the best of resources for their mental and physical development. They would certainly like to get the child involved with creative concepts rather than spending too much time watching television. And so they look forward to qualitative and educative recreational activities with wholesome entertainment as well.
KSP: What took so long for your second production?
KC: Kidz Connect Entertainment aims at coming up with innovative formats of theatre. Last year it was puppets. This time we wanted to bring an international brand to India so had to invest more time as everything required a quality check from the parent company.
KSP: Why Little Miss & Mr. Men?
Mr. Men and Little Miss are classic characters that identify with a multi-generational audience through self expression, colour, simplicity and humour. The series comprises a total of 85 characters, each with its own personality and style. This allows the consumer for an immediate connection with the characters since each character has “somethingâ€_x009d_ that will identify consumers with different personalities. There is a bit of Mr. Men and Little Miss within each of us! They reach out to kids in a similar way and is easy to teach them small yet joyful meaning of life using these characters.
KSP: How did you go about getting the franchise and what is the perception about India among the stakeholders of large franchise like Mr Men & Little Miss
KC: We approached Dream Theatre Pvt. Ltd for their licensed brand Mr Men Little Miss as we thought the characters would be a great connect for our little audience. Everything from the costumes to the sets and music had to go through approvals as we had to meet the international standards. However, the brand has been extremely happy with the outcome and has perceived India as a great market for creativity and talent.
KSP: What can we expect this time?
KC: Magical characters, a fun plot, foot-tapping songs, colourful costumes and heartfelt emotions, this novel show will easily connect with the Indian kids. The show is designed to transport the kids to Dillydale, where the Mr. Men and the Little Misses live. The journey takes them through various lands of Dillydale presented by beautiful backdrops, props and lights. The five Mr. Men Little Miss characters show off their individual traits dramatically, in an absolute entertaining way. To add to the excitement, various other fictional characters are thrown in to bring in humour. “A Twisted Tale in Dillydaleâ€_x009d_ is created to tell a story of friendship, love and teamwork and to spread joy.
KSP: Your music with Elf For a day was a huge success can we expect the same & more with Little Miss & Mr Men?
KC: Music is a very important element for a children’s production. Our music for ‘A Twisted Tale in Dillydale’ is very melodious, soulful and positive and will surely make the kids sway in their seats.
KSP: Would you like to mention some inspiring work in the last 1 year in the kids entertainment space?
A lot has evolved in the last one year. With Kidzania and Imagica opening its doors, the kids surely have more exposure to a variety of entertainment. It has been a treat to see the effort put in to create a world class entertainment destination like imagica with an Indian touch.
KSP: In a word:Â
