Kids & Computers:

A detailed study on children’s usage of the internet and electronic gadgets throws up some interesting findings. The underlying conclusion was how kids today are at ease with gadgets such as mobiles, tablets, laptops or desktops. You name it- they can operate it! Among the 3800 study group, it was found that one in every two kids used a computer, between the ages of 7 and 14 and one in every 4 kids accesses the internet.

The good news, however, is, 9.4 out of 10 parents surveyed confirmed that they constantly monitor their child’s behaviour on social networking websites. Given today’s security risks involved in the digital space, this is a comforting fact.

Also when they were quizzed about what they used the internet for- using the search options for learning new stuff and downloading games were the top priorities. The survey also tells us that 32% children download applications out of which 70% download the paid applications.

And no prizes for guessing your child’s favourite social networking website! 92 kids from the age 7-14 years said they visited Facebook and it was also a favourite among 88 among the 300 odd respondents.
