
Soon after the news in a leading financial daily about how companies are losing about 12% of women in the workforce every year this announcement from Flipkart comes as a huge breather. Flipkart announced it’s New Maternity Benefit Programme and it’s already getting a pat on the back for this initiative. For all the concerned to-be moms or for those who have been figuring out the right age to have a baby can just go ahead without any delays. Listed below is a brief on the plan:
- All mothers get a six month paid leave
- Post return to women employees can avail 4 months of flexible working hours with full pay along with continuity on the same job
- They can avail an extended leave upto 12 months and return to available jobs at that point
- Upto INR 600/day transport reimbursement for 2 months before going to maternity break and dedicated parking spot for 2 months before and after delivery
- Hospital charges covered for Normal delivery (INR 65000) and C section (INR 85000).
- Crèche support through tie ups with day-care centres on a co share basis for children upto 4 years
- Maternity care programme including advice from wellness coach on parenting, work balance, family health and lots more.
- A new paternity leave policy is on it’s way and I am sure the men are waiting for it more than the women.
