Every time my cousins visit us from Europe, there’s just one thing I ask them to get back for us. It’s the clothing. Not that we don’t have enough of it back home- but the quality of kids wear available in France, London and Sweden is a class apart. Also, I have heard enough about the French minimalist wardrobe and have been spending sleepless nights on how to integrate my wardrobe (an overflowing one) to resemble the French style! That’s a discussion for another day! But if you are a parent like me, who loves this French minimalist style in clothing as well as looking for comfortable wear for your little boys- keep reading this article, you are at the right place!
What is Shayan bebe?
The brains behind this:
Roxane Sabatier, Pauline Valli and Lilya Sabatier are the successful trio behind this family business. The birth of Roxane’s child Shayan in 2015 inspired the need for something different and comfortable in clothes for little boys. Roxanne- a journalist, Pauline- with a background in marketing and Lilya- a Management graduate-turned writer brought in together all their experiences to create this line of clothing that blends the French minimalist style with the Indian colours and fabric.
The USP of Shayan bebe is not just the Indo-French inspiration. The need to give back something to the society is rooted in their values and that’s why they have partnered with NGO Salaam Baalak Trust Mumbai, who help street children in India. On every item sold, Shayan bebe donates a part of the money to SBT which goes towards the nutrition of toddlers.
Products & Price Range:Â
The focus here is at making clothes for little boys from 9-24 months with comfort as the key factor. The products are made of 100% cotton, that is very light- which makes it an ideal summer wear for your little boys. Don’t fret about the growth spurts in your toddler- the buttons (that are of high quality) on the side of the piping in the shorts make sure your little boys don’t outgrow them very soon!
The prices range from Rs 899 for the bloomer to Rs 1599 for the rompers. The bag that comes along with the products is made of recycled cotton-turns out to be very useful to store your child’s innerwear or socks later!
Each collection caters to the comfort of every toddler and will showcase a different Indian city/state. The first collection launched early this year is titled “From Bombay with love” and comprises of 6 items in two different colours blue and yellow (sarouel, romper, shirt, tank top, shorts and bloomer).
How to order:
Interested parents can place their orders through their FB page or reach them via phone or email to place an order. You can also place orders through Etsy (Click here). Shayan bebe is fast looking to having a physical presence in Mumbai & Goa- so can’t wait!
What Kidsstoppress thinks about Shayan bebe:
This new brand in the market looks to showcase the Indian culture with a fine French touch to it. The idea, we agree, is new and something parents would want to try. The Indian market is flooded with options aplenty for girls, so if you ‘have no daughters’ give them to your sons!
The cotton is astonishingly light and will ensure your child will be comfortable. Makes it a perfect choice for those summer walks!
The reversible elastic band that is used might seem a little too tight for the young kids- but we simply loved the minimalist designs in the collection.
Then again, we wonder, for a country obsessed with prints and designs for kids, how much of a mark will Shayan bebe be able to make?
