Giving a tough fight to toys and books is my child's shoe collection. I am guilty of overdoing it- categorising it occasion wise, colour wise, the special ones to match the special dresses and the not-so-special ones that continue their stay in the house. Blame it on our last-minute preparations or the lack of patience- my child is yet to ace the shoe game. She gets the wrong shoe on the wrong feet, or sometimes she is tied with the shoelace (pun intended!) and the other times, she is just plain lazy.

Here are some fun and easy hacks every parent will need to know to help their child wear their shoes, the right way!

1. The Half-Sticker Method

Is your child confused with the left and right shoe? Save some precious minutes each day with this easy hack. Cut a sticker in two halves and put on on each of the shoe such that they make a complete picture when placed together. You could also divide the name of your child between the two shoes so that they know which order to wear it in. You could also tie a trick of tying a red ribbon on your child's right wrist and using the same colour on the right shoe to help him/her identify. Make sure you are patient with your child in the first few attempts- so that the child finds the game enjoyable.

2. The Shoelace Trick

Once you cross the stage where getting your child to put the right foot on the right shoe was an ordeal, you will have to meet the inevitable phase where tying their shoelace becomes an even bigger ordeal! They don't get it right most times and end up tripping on the lace and falling down or they get us to our knees at the slightest pretext. Check out this fun video where a mom (Kirsten Johnson, a mother who is popular on Facebook and Youtube as Unstoppable Mother,) got her son to tie his shoelace in an easy way. When this simple video surfaced about how you can teach your li'l ones to tie their shoelace in the easiest manner, it sure did light up the lives of many parents of children with autism.

3. Easier Shoe Shopping Hack

In a fair world, any shopping experience that involves toddlers should be banned! Thanks to online shopping, it has become hassle-free than running to the stores with the little ones for everything. But shopping for shoes isn't easy- a small change in the size can cause great discomfort to the kid and that's just another reason to throw a tantrum! Here'an easy trick that can help you from the ordeal. Trace or stamp your child's footprint on a piece of paper and make you take this paper instead of the toddler when you go shopping!

4. Say Goodbye To Smelly Shoes

With the monsoon in full swing across the country, it is tough to maintain your child's shoes. It is necessary to dry them well before the kids use them, but what about the smell? Here is a video you need to watch to find out how you can bid goodbye to stinky shoes with just a tissue paper and a few drops of lemon oil.
