I started to listen to many more podcasts in the pandemic. Does that mean I had more time? Absolutely – no! Instead of dreading my morning commute, I looked forward to chores and listening to podcasts.
And today – I am a regular podcast user.
I realized I don’t need to set aside a full hour of my day to listen to them. With a bit of experimentation, you can fit podcasts into your schedule, too.
So, how do you do that? How should one include podcasts into their life? Some tasks usually don’t require intense focus.

Just like you’re excited to start the next episode, you won’t want to finish your workout until the episode ends. Now wouldn’t that surprise you? Podcasts can have a run time of anything from 30 minutes to 2 and 1/2 hours. Just like you don’t end the new TV show episode halfway through, you won’t want to end the podcast episode halfway. It helps you commit to a full workout.
Just like you’re excited to start the next episode, you won’t want to finish your workout until the episode ends. Now wouldn’t that be interesting?
While running chores
Cooking, putting laundry away can be mundane work that you would love to get out of. Listening to a podcast can be distracting, and will keep you engaged. Whether that’s listening to a true crime story, a wellness podcast, or a comedian interview, you’ll be thinking about the content as opposed to the chores.
The greatest advantage of listening to podcasts is that it is visual-free and it is ideal when you are driving. Here’s your chance to learn something new, know more about things happening around you during your long commutes. You never know, your long drives at work, traffic, may not seem bad anymore!
Starting your day with a routine that is motivating can be benefitial. Yes, it’s best to avoid screen first thing in the morning, but clocking in on some me-time and learning is great. Try a morning routine, it will change your life.
