As parents, we know exactly what a sleepless night and an exhausting day look and sound like. But through all the bleariness we trudge on, wondering when our baby will have his/her sleep cycle in place. 

Babies need close to 10-12 hours of sleep for the first few months of life. And even until your child is 6-7 years old they need at least 10-11 hours of sleep. Sleep is a very important part of a child's growth and development because the growth hormone is released when they sleep.

New parents often struggle to get their children on a sleep cycle. Kidsstoppress spoke to Dr Preeti Devnani, Sleep Expert at Hinduja Hospital about problems parents and children face where sound sleep is concerned. Dr Devnani had some great tips about how to make our kids get into a sleep routine; how to deal with night terror and about co-sleeping with your baby.
