With social distances, lockdown and curfew being the current buzz words, everyone is a little on edge and has been apprehensive. Humans per see are extremely social so to stay home away from their friends can actually be quite taxing. Of all the people around, the little ones in our lives are the sons who have till now run around inhibited, playing with their friends, rolling around in the park and just having the time of their lives.

Now that has all come to a standstill and they are stuck indoors. They are to allowed to meet their friends, they re not allowed to go outside and cycle – basically they are not allowed out!

There are so many questions that have been on our minds.

  • Kids love the company of other kids. In today’s lockdown mode how do you think social isolation is affecting our kids?
  • How do we help kids who are hating the fact that they are stuck at home and are unable to meet their friends?
  • With kids home and spouse home, it can and actually is getting a little stressful l. How do we all keep ourselves engaged while being quarantined?

We had so many more questions and decided that the best person to answer these should be an expert. After all the mental health of each of us is supremely important during these trying times. Mans Zaveri of Kidsstoppress spoke to Dr Sapna Bangar, Psychiatrist and Head, Mpower – The Centre. She addressed all our questions and then some more. She was quite vocal about being gentle with the kids and loving them at this time.
