Homeopathy for kids cough and cold

So if you have a preschooler who has been missing school and you are tired of sleepless nights due to cough, cold and congestion with your kids then chances are you are already thinking of alternate medicine options.

I must reiterate that even though I am not a doctor being a mom of two I know what moms are really thinking and the agony you go through when you give your kids anti-allergens each night, just so they sleep through. With frequent changes in the weather and the amount of pollution and dust in the city a lot of kids have a perennial cough and cold. Some doctors even recommend not taking kids to schools with air conditions or extremely crowded places. So obviously as a first time mom you do try that. But let me tell you, that’s not a long term solution. While you will try Home remedies you obviously want something that will also help boost the child’s immunity. At first I wasn’t comfortable or rather did not believe in any alternate form of medication. But as I connected with more and more moms they recommended homeopathy and good homeopathy doctors to me. Did I try them? Yes I did.

I would be lying to you if I said that it worked immediately and that I wasn’t skeptical. It took a lot on convincing for me to even try it.

Reasons why most parents are open to trying Homeopathy:

  1. Recurring cold, cough and wheezing
  2. Frequent doses of antibiotics
  3. Belief that Homeopathy has no side effects and is harmless
  4. Even though its said to act slowly. Parents believe that it will boost the child’s immunity
  5. It takes into consideration the child’s diet and lifestyle
  6. The sweet pills are easier to feed than the flavoured syrups
  7. It’s a long term solution versus fighting the infection

Points to consider:

  1. What is important is to understand that what works for one child does not necessarily work for another.
  2. Consult a good doctor. Someone who comes recommended by a couple of parents in your vicinity
  3. Never have blind faith. Always do your research and speak to a lot of parents
  4. Parents believe that homeopathy is a Complementary Alternate Medicine(CAM) and is not a replacement for evidence based conventional medicines.

While I do give homeopathy to my kids, this post in no way recommends you try anything without consulting a certified doctor. It’s also very important to have faith in the doctor and the alternate science.
