Is your fridge emitting foul odour everything you open it? It can be quite disgusting actually. However, getting rid of that horrible scent isn’t always as easy as throwing away the spoilt cheese. Try these remedies using ingredients at home.

Is your fridge emitting foul odour every time you open it? It can be quite disgusting actually.

However, getting rid of that horrible scent isn’t always as easy as throwing away the spoilt cheese or wiping away the food spillage on the second shelf. Sometimes, you can remove all of the food, just to find that the bad odour lingers.

So What Should I Do?

  • Check for spoiled food
  • Take out shelves and clean them
  • Utilize airtight containers
  • Adjust the temperature of the fridge
  • Use a natural deodorizer

Now baking soda is normally the go-to when you want to remove the stink from your fridge. But besides that, we have a few more natural options you should try out. Coffee

Add a shallow bowl of freshly ground coffee, uncovered, to your freezer. Leave for a few days and any funky odours will disappear. You can also res-use the coffee granules leftover from your morning coffee BTW. That works too!

Vinegar

Just add some to a small cloth or paper towel, then place in a shallow bowl in the back of your fridge. Change this each time the towel dries out. The vinegar will neutralize the food smells in your fridge.

Oatmeal

Yes, you read it right. It not only makes for healthy breakfast oatmeal also works to remove the stink from your fridge. Leave an open container of dry oats in the fridge. It neutralizes smells and works even better than baking soda does.

Citrus

Hollow out a grapefruit or orange, fill it with salt, and place it in the back of the fridge. Leave it there until the salt gets completely damp. remove and replace once that happens. The salt draws out the citrus smell and makes your whole fridge smell like fresh fruit! 

Cloves

Just take a lemon or an orange, cut it in half and put in a good number of cloves. The lemons and cloves placed in a refrigerator until it starts to dry out.
