Most parents today seem to feel that good parenting means preparing your children to excel in everything. In trying to do this, we try and expose them to various after-school organized activities. As a result, often lost is the time for a child to just play.

You may say when your son is going for a badminton class, he is playing, he is learning a skill and he is getting his share of exercise. After a day at school, then his class and onto some homework, where is the time left in the day for kids to just go outside and find ways to entertain themselves, either with friends, family or alone. However, you should know unstructured play is extremely important for a child’s overall growth and development- physically and mentally.

Why has play gotten squeezed out? Our desire to raise successful kids has driven parents to place children in a lot of structured sports, and music, art, writing and science classes.

Watch Dr Mukesh Sanklecha, a child specialist explain the importance of letting out kids run free. You will be amazed at the positive way in which this will affect your child. Give kids the unstructured space they need to see how fun life can be and #GrowRight.
