Received comments on your looks? Too young to be a mom or you don’t look like a mom, etc? Yes- it happens!

We at KSP asked moms to write in and share their experiences of being mom-shamed, judged and ridiculed and we have received numerous responses from moms who have been victims, but decided to march ahead and pursue their dreams. Today’s story is about being judged on looks, lifestyle and career choices.

I often get told, "WOW, you don't look married at all. I usually politely say thanks and then when people know that I have a 5 yr old son, they again go on saying, how I don't look like a mother. I often wonder, what are married woman and mothers supposed to look like? Aren't they allowed to dress up, be well groomed, have amazing skin and hair?

Aren't women allowed to juggle between work and home and be successful at it?

The judgement has come at all stages, breastfeeding, the way I am parenting, choosing to be a stay home mom, dressing up differently despite the religion I follow etc. The society always judges women. The judgement comes from fellow moms who have been through similar struggles. Wouldn't it be nice if we just shed the weapon of judgement and shared the shield of heroism with fellow women?
