Bollywood’s newest single daddy on the block, Karan Johar, and his twins have been in news for quite some time now. Just like actor Tusshar Kapoor, the ace director cum actor decided to go the surrogate way and was blessed with twin babies. Yash and Roohi were born on February 7, 2017, and were brought home on March 29, 2017. Ever since then, life has changed for KJo, who now has more responsibilities than just directing films. While single fathers were an unusual thing in India, Bollywood stars have made this too a trend of late. However, if you thought Karan was inspired by them and hence took the route, you may be wrong. Apparently, the actor did not draw his inspiration from any of the other single parent celebs.

There are some famous single fathers in the world, celebs who were brave to have babies out of surrogacy, like Cristiano Ronaldo and Ricky Martin. But I wasn’t inspired by them!

The actor cum director had been thinking about having a child for a long time and also knew he had the capacity to be an adequate parent. Having nurtured so many young minds in the film industry, almost being a parent to them, KJo felt he would fit the bill perfectly. And we cannot agree more!

Being a mother is no easy job but being a single father is harder! Although Karan does have his mother backing him at all times, the director did not shy away from the responsibilities his new role demanded. KJo has an entire library of baby care books but apparently, hasn’t read any of them. Instead, he reaches out to other moms, pediatricians, nurses and is also a part of Whatsapp baby groups to get his dose of advice.

I listen to all the advice mothers give me. I am on several Whatsapp baby groups.

3. On Being Hands-On

‘Do you change their nappies?’- This was the first question KJo had to answer after Yash and Roohi were born. Well, unlike most others who feel cleaning the baby is part of being hands-on, KJo had a completely different opinion. To him, cleaning or feeding the baby does not add up to anything. KJo in fact cleaned up their mess once they were home.

I don’t want to be that kind of hands-on parent when I can be a fulltime heart-on father and mother!

4. On His Biggest Blockbuster

Yash and Roohi are Karan’s biggest blockbuster. The twins are just two months old now and all they do is cry, eat, sleep and burp. And, like any parent, Karan too stares at them in wonder and how they have changed his life in a gorgeous way.

I can’t get over the fact that they are mine. It’s like a powerful switch has suddenly come on in my life, filling the emptiness in my personal space with new energy. I get teary-eyed just looking at them.

5. On His Dreams As A Father

Like any father, Karan too has big dreams for his little ones. From wanting to bring them to his office to setting up a creche that will look nothing less than Disneyland, Karan has a lot on the cards for his kids. Oh, and yes, travelling with Bebo’s son Taimur, who is a few months older is also on! Now, that definitely sounds like a plan!

I want them to be all over the place. And I’m already looking at building a crèche here. It will be like Disneyland! I’m also looking forward to them travelling with me when I go outstation on shoots.
