Dadi/ Nani knows best when it comes to traditional home remedies for a number of conditions – that what I grew up hearing. I grew up under her supervision and I do credit her with everything I know about home remedies and the kind of food we should eat.

Now when the kids fall ill or are just under the weather and need a natural immunity booster, then it’s my Nani’s nuske and advice that I remember. 

We have Grandmom Jyoti Zaveri sharing her family’s healthy and immunity building recipes with us. She always has practical and nutrition packed advice where her family is concerned. Amla Immunity Booster

This Grandma's recipe for amla juice is my go-to remedy when the weather starts to turn and the cold and cough starts. This Vitamin C packed drink does the trick every time. Amla or Indian Gooseberry is a powerhouse of antioxidants and vitamins. 

Sonth Ke Laddu

Sonth or dry ginger powder is known for its anti-inflammatory properties. So team it with gur and ghee and you can help relieve things like a chest congestion, flatulence, migraines and stomach disorders.

Khajoor Pak

This is Grandmom's special recipe and is made with ghee, gondh and dates. Dates or khajoor are vitamin-rich and adding them to your daily diet in some way will go a long way in improving your overall health. This tiffin treat/ evening tea time snack is healthy and tastes delicious.

Jowar Khichdi

Jowar is a gluten-free grain that has a high content of calcium and is also packed with iron, protein and fibre.  This yummy khichdi can be eaten for breakfast or taken as a healthy lunch option. 

Gol Papdi

This is a healthy snack you can give the kids for tiffin or for the bus ride back home.  Grandma Jyoti Zaveri lets us in on a secret ingredient she includes in her Gol Papdi to make it tasty and healthy for her grandkids. She uses goond in her Gol Papdi. Goond or edible gum is extremely healthy for the bones.
