As moms we forget that we are women first, we too enjoy a peaceful sunset, a quiet afternoon with a book and some coffee. It all just seems like a distant dream when a mother is born.

The word mum comes with its own baggage of “Where is my tiffin? Where is my notebook? Where is my t-shirt? I can’t find the remote. I am hungry!”

I just wished there was a day for me that was like the Mann Ki Baat. The Prime Minister speaks and people listen. I wish for a few hours I could just get my ‘me’ time without feeling guilty about it.

But it’s hard to do that because even on a break, a mom’s mind is on unless she leaves her kid with the one she trusts. Someone who has always been with her from when she was a kid and who was an intrinsic part of her childhood too. So – what comes to my mind is either mom or Disney+ Hotstar Premium.

Their new Kids Mode means a safe, trusted environment for my child, whether it’s Frozen 2, Toy Story 4  or the magical Genie from Aladdin. Sometimes, we spend so much time just creating and yearning for that balance that we become so hard on ourselves that we forget to reach out for things that are easy to do. We forget that exhaustion can make us a mom we don’t like to be. Admit it, the lockdown and kids being away from school hasn’t made it easy on us either. So what are you doing about it?

I always say this, happy women are better moms and what better day, than Mother’s Day, to gift myself some ‘me time’. Is it too much to ask for? Too much for my happiness? Throw that label of being guilty all the time and get your kids ready to be lost into the magical world of stories, happy endings, drama, friendship and all things good, so you could do something you love as well.

Don’t burden yourself by being the only teacher. We all learnt so much from getting lost in the world of stories and I cannot wait to introduce the same to my kids. Today, especially on Mother’s Day, as I sit and think about how I want to raise my children, the first thing I want to do is switch to Kids Mode on Disney+ Hotstar Premium and get some ‘Mum ki Shanti’ as my kids learn while getting entertained.

Owing to my erratic working schedule, I am grateful that the lockdown has given me more time to spend with my family, especially my kids, so I can’t complain. But, I do agree that sometimes it is an uphill task to manage 2 kids and keep my 7-year-old entertained through the day, for days on end considering we are very strict on screen-time being on weekends only. On this Mother’s Day, @disneyplushotstarvip heroes have all aligned to help me and other moms relax, while ‘they’ keep my child entertained. Thank you, Disney heroes, for this #mothersday gift and for being amazing #babysitters ???????????? . . . . . #happymothersday #MumKiShanti
