Kidsstoppress Joins Hands With Kailash Satyarthi In The 100 Million For 100 Million Campaign

The campaign aims to bring together 100 million young people and educate them about their own rights and the rights of thousands of other children, similar to them. The campaign will inspire 100 million children to speak and act for the numerous other unfortunate children living in terrible conditions and will motivate them to build a child-friendly world, where every child is free and safe to learn and to have an equal chance in life. The 100 million for 100 million campaign will be kickstarted by the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee at the Laureates and Leaders Summit for Children on 11th December 2016.

When a young boy, Kailash, was on his way to school, dressed in a crisp uniform, he chanced upon a boy of a similar age. Only that he was toiling hard by the road and that he was born to a cobbler. He didn’t quite understand how two kids of the same age, lived quite a different life. His teacher brushed aside his concern saying, “Some children are born to work”. This only angered the little boy further and this small incident paved way for a future champion of children’s rights. The young boy is Kailash Satyarthi– famous Child Rights Advocate and recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. This December 2016, he will open the 100 Million for 100 Million campaign.

What is the 100 Million for 100 Million campaign?

The campaign aims to bring together 100 million young people and educate them about their own rights and the rights of thousands of other children, similar to them. It is touted as the biggest and boldest mobilization in history, aimed at eliminating the problems of tomorrow, by instilling compassion and leadership in today’s generation of youth. This 5-year campaign strives to change the future of  millions of children worldwide and support a new generation of truly global, young citizens. The campaign will inspire 100 million children to speak and act for the numerous other unfortunate children living in terrible conditions and will motivate them to build a child-friendly world, where every child is free and safe to learn and to have an equal chance in life.

Satyarthi hopes to bring together a unique combination of Nobel Laureates, International Champions, Global Media partners, International NGOs, Schools, Colleges and Universities. It is said that prominent celebrities like The Dalai Lama, former Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard, Ratan Kumar Nag (Grameen Bank), Yemeni rights activist Tawakkol Karman, Liberian peace activist Leymah Roberta Gbowee, South African humanitarian and Nelson Mandela’s widow Graca Machel, Netherlands Princess Laurentien and American human rights activist Kerry Kennedy will be a part of this event.

What does the Laureates and Leaders Summit for Children aim to do?

This summit is stemmed out of a concept that was developed by Kailash Satyarthi in 2014. The Summit strives to bring together people from various background to work together on child-centric, purely humanitarian issues – at a local and International level. By 2019 the 100 million for 100 million campaign aims to operate in over 60 countries worldwide and to have secured 40 million supporters.
