Where Is Mr. Thookam?

How many times have your kids gone to the bed and then cribbed that they ain’t sleepy? Way too many times, right?! This is a story of a li’l girl, and how she is unable to find Mr. Thookam (love the names rooted in Tamil!) The best part is how she finds help from her elder sister (Akka!) and together they set out on a mission to find the elusive sleep and hand it back to the little girl. A very simple storyline, but beautifully narrated and backed strongly by wonderful illustrations by Janan Abir. Anusha, who has already authored “My Amma’s White Stone Mookuthi” knows how to keep the young readers captive with the suspense elements and the delightful sisters bonding that take the story forward. Suitable for kids 3-8 years. Click here to buy the book.
Maari- A Gift From the Skies

How do you explain the difficulties someone faces in a rural setting, to today’s children nestled in their beds reading a book on their iPad? Author Anusha yet again treads this difficult topic from the eyes of a little girl, who walks the reader through her quiet village, their lives, and culture and what happens when they a crisis hits them. Superb illustrations by Shruti Hemani propel the story forward and helps the reader connect to the protagonist. Suitable for kids 5 and above, this one is a must-read, this summer.
