What is it about?

The book tells your children the inspiring stories of 100 extraordinary women and how they braved all odds to achieve their destination. And when we say achieve- we mean like big ones! From Elizabeth 1 to Serena Williams and even Malala Yousufzai this book tells us their stories through lovely illustrations.

Featuring women achievers who stood against difficulties and didn’t take ‘no’ for an answer (and hence the label- rebel) from across the world, this is the ideal book you need to read out and hand over to your children to inspire them to reach for the skies.

Why is this book on our shelf?

  • The title simply won us over! Though the intent is to inspire our young girls to dream big, it is equally important that boys read this book as well. If you are harping on gender equality, give ESPN a rest and ask your boys to read this book.
  • It isn’t easy tracing the lives of famous achievers but capturing them in a nutshell, for the young readers. The book steers clear of any controversies shrouding the lives of these women and only gives us the inspiring facts. Sounds about right for a children’s book.
  • While some might not be entirely pleased with the skewed selection of the achievers, giving more importance to the West than the East, all our children need are motivating lessons to keep them going- so East or West, keep reading and keep getting inspired!
  • From reading out the same archaic stories where the princess is swept off her feet by the knight in shining armour or showing them how Baahubali just keeps getting stronger- this book tells your girls, that we can be achievers too and here is how these women have done it!
