Am really looking forward to utilising this long weekend off by getting to spend more time with my child and teaching her fun games, facts and some movie and reading time- snuggled together. She is all excited about the Independence Day celebrations in our colony and the school and is shooting questions on everything from "What is independence" to "Why we need independence"!

For the avid readers and the young minds who love listening to interesting old anecdotes and revisiting the past, here is the perfect book to unearth interesting facts and revisit 70 years of independent India! Happy Independence Day!

Which book are we reading?

The book that's on our shelf this week is India At 70- Snapshots Since Independence-written by the famous children's author  Roshen Dalal and is published by Penguin Random House India. The author is famous for her earlier work- Puffin History of India for Children.

What is it about?

The book is a lovely round up of all the important events of each of the 70 years in India since independence. Each chapter deals with a single year and gives the reader a quick round up of all the events- the good and the not so good, that made headlines in that particular year. A great way for a quick recap of all the things we loved about the years gone by.
