What is it about?

Another one in the "girl power" series of books to hit the Indian market- this book delightfully explains how a girl can inspire an entire village to stand up for their rights. Ideal for your little kids (girls and of course, boys!) aged 5 and above.

Why is this book on our shelf?

  • We have enough movies and books eulogising the superhero male and the strong boys who save the city from any disaster. A book that sings the praise of a young girl as the protagonist is a welcome change.
  • The language used by Geeta Dharmarajan is simple and an ideal choice for your kids who are now beginning to read stories on their own. We also loved the illustrations by Shashi Setty.
  • The book not just serves its purpose of a fun read for kids but makes the little minds "think-ask-discuss-and act". Be prepared for a world of questions from them after they read this on why someone would even think of putting the girls down against the boys!
