This past weekend, my daughter and I did a small exercise together. It took us about 20 minutes in all. I’m fairly convinced it’ll have a long term impact on her, as I’ll explain later. Meanwhile, she’s quite thrilled that she’s going to make a difference. We went through her toys. All of them. Before we started, I told her that there were other children who didn’t have enough toys. If she would like, she could give away some of the toys she doesn’t use to these children. She wasn’t promised any new toys in exchange and she wasn’t forced to part with the parts of her toy chest that she truly cherishes. Happy to report that we ended up with a clean-out rate of about 50 per cent.
