There is something magical about summer holidays. From travelling to grandparents' house to relishing popsicles while reading our favourite book under the tree, we have done a list of things we keep reminiscing till today! Cut to today's generation- they have a list that is widely different from ours- enjoyable nevertheless. Especially in the pandemic era, summer holidays mean logging on to new online classes, learning new skills, reading a new book and spending more time playing indoor games.

This new movie, Luca, on Disney+ Hotstar is the perfect blend of fun, funny and heartwarming and has created a big splash (pun intended) in the world of new animated feature films. Bookmark this beautifully crafted coming of age story that explores the topic of identity in a subtle but lovely way.

About Luca:

The feature film follows a young boy and his unforgettable summer in the Italian riviera. It involves amazing food, new people and beautiful sceneries that he experiences alongside his new best friend! Except, something is fishy. In order to preserve their perfect summer, the boys must preserve their deep secret too- find out what that is.

What does a simple movie like this teach my kids:

  • It teaches children to enjoy the little things- be it gelato or the sun, sometimes children take advantage of the things that have become so natural to them.
  • Teaches kids to get a perspective -seeing our world through a different set of eyes can teach us to take notice of the things we usually don’t appreciate.
  • It captures the coming of age theme very well- Luca explores the concept of identity and fitting in as well as navigating the anxieties moving from child to adult. These subtle themes are sprinkled all over the movie as the protagonist tries to discover where he fits best and where he really belongs.

So we are saying:
