Mumbai Meri Jaan by Peekaboo

A musical by kids from 18 months to 11 years with parents, teachers putting in a lot of effort to teach kids all about the city and yet providing a platform of this magnitude is commendable. Peek a boo events are always something one must watch out for including their Annual project day(Click here to read the review) We attended the concert with a full house at Ravindra Natya Mandir and were welcomed with a stage that had everything Mumbai about it. Starting at sharp 10 a.m. and I must compliment Darshini for that, we were taken through various landmarks of Mumbai beginning with the Gateway of India, the BSE, Chowpatty, Taraporewala Aquarium, Dhobi Ghaat & Race Course, Mumbai local trains & dabbawallas, Nehru Centre, Siddhivinayak, temple, Marine Drive, Dharavi & Haji ali.

A musical by kids from 18 months to 11 years with parents, teachers putting in a lot of effort to teach kids all about the city and yet providing a platform of this magnitude is commendable. I attended this concert in capacity of being press alongwith the daughter obviously and felt good that I spent 3 hours of Sunday morning with children across age groups and exposing the daughter to a whole new form of learning. All these landmarks were explained through beautiful musicals with an integrated slide show that made it extremely dynamic. A fair amount of Bollywood songs took centre stage but Bollywood is integral to Mumbai the city of dreams. We would have loved to have a little more creativity through the acts making them sans bollywood but none the less were just overwhelmed by their effort. They actually had the actual dabawallahs come on stage and understand how important they are to this city. I was skeptical whether or not the daughter would sit through a full 3 hours without an interval but she did. There was no down moment in the show except a few skits which were a tad bit exaggerated. The Opening Act Gateway Of India Mumbai VT Station Mumbai Koliwada Dhobhi Ghaat Mumbai Dabawallas Haji Ali Mosque What I loved about the show: 1. Kids as young as 18 months standing up and performing on stage without their parents. They actually had the confidence to perform in front of a full house and it didn't matter to most of them on what the step was though some kids did remember the cues and actually did their steps. But the other just did their own thing on stage. Even for a  3 – 4 year old to have courage and a platform of this stature is phenomenal. It was absolutely commendable. 2. Some acts had kids of all ages where the older ones were guiding the young tots. After all that's what a group act is all about. 3. Involvement from parents, teachers, ex – students & students across all their activity classes. I will let the pictures do all the talking on this one but I must say that it was a brilliant effort by a brilliant team. I don't know how many preschools in the city can boast of a show of this caliber.
