Shopping for kids is no child’s play. It involves choosing soft fabrics with child-friendly designs and should be easy on the wallet too! And the biggest concern for parents is that most dresses or frocks, shrink soon or the kids outgrow them in no time, and before you realise, you will need a new collection in the wardrobe! Fret not, Pluie to the rescue!

Designing for kids always needs an inspiration. When co-founder of Pluie- Harleen Kaur, an NIFT graduate decided to design a clothing line for kids, she decided to understand their psyche by talking to them and interact with them.  She draws inspiration from the “past, the lost art, words and techniques of making clothes with the hand and creating something appropriate for today’s time”. She wanted to revive the age old tradition of making clothes with love for children, like the ones her grandmother used to stitch and knit for her. And that’s when leading retail website- Myntra launched their Myntra Fashion Incubator programme and selected a few designers and supported them through dedicated design studios and mentorship program good designs mes from the fashion world. The first brand to be launched was Pluie. She says the key factors behind conceptualizing Pluie were comfort, ease, breathability and functionality. The brand is co-founded by Vasudha Khurana, a management graduate who handles all the business functions for the brand.

What we love about Pluie:

  • We love the comfort feel of the fabric used in Pluie. Most of the products are made of 100% cotton.
  • The unique designing ideas such as silhouettes that are flared and ‘easy to be in’, big pockets to store little treasures and hidden closures for a seamless finish- are all a big hit with the parents who eye comfortable clothing for their kids.
  • Also, aach garment of Pluie is softener washed to ensure they stay soft against the skin. Button or zipper placements are secured in a way that they’re not in direct contact with the skin so that they don’t feel itchy or uncomfortable.
  • Also, if you are a parent who is constant worried about your child outgrowing dresses soon, it’s high time you invest in Pluie. Pluie pays special care to their designs with smocking panels on the chest and back, make it easy for movement and give enough room to grow, so that the dresses can be worn as tunics with leggings when the kid has grown too tall for it.
  • The best part about Pluie is that in addition to clothing wear, they also launched Pluie doll bags to minimize this fabric wastage. And they plan to continue the trend by introducing accessories with the left over fabrics. Innovative!

What we would like to see:

  • Currently Pluie caters to clothing for girls aged 2-8 years. And they are working hard to launch the apparel line for young boys by 2017, and we can’t wait!
  • The design ideas behing Pluie products have really caught on with the children and parents, and we can’t wait for a larger variety of designer and party wear from the brand- that offers the same comfort and style for kids.
