The 5th edition of KSP Awards 2017 was a grand spectacle and we at Kidsstoppress can't stop smiling! From brands to celebrities to mommy bloggers, to key influencers- everyone from the parenting world were there under one roof and that's what made the event so special. Our keynote speaker of the day was Mrs. Neerja Birla who had the audience all captivated with her key note address on what parents need to know right about their kids.

Here are some pointers from the wonderful speech by Mrs. Birla that every parent should take note of.

*The key point raised in the speech was on the need for today's parents to accept the realities and not just blame themselves or their children for the outcomes. She explained how " While we deal with our inadequacies we expect our kids to be superhuman. It is necessary to make our choices rational (as parents). Accept the realities, as a parent. "

*If you are a parent, fretting over your child's social media habits and how you worry if they are turning into an addiction- Mrs. Neerja Birla had a wonderful point to make. She explained how children learn best from imitation and how they look upto us. If they see a parent who is hooked on to social media and who discusses about it every minute- you must realise that your child will tend to do the same. "Set an example for your kids", Mrs. Birla reiterated to parents.

*Stop doubting yourself as a parent- was a take-home message from the address. Mrs. Beerja Birla explains this as the "Paradox of choice in parenting"  and how we always wonder if are we doing enough for our kids. The constant thought that we aren't doing enough for our kids should be shed, she says.

*If you are a new mom or dad, who feels you just don't have enough "me" time and how you have decided to dedicate every minute of your life for your child- here is something you will love to hear. "Do what you want to do, now! For all of you who have young children don’t wait to do something, do it now!"

*And lastly, if you are a parent who forces your child to go through all those classes and tuitions, think again. Learning to accept the kids for who they are and letting them identify their strengths is important she explains. "Let children choose what they are good at doing and what are they well suited for".
