The Indian Railways has decided to give us all bad news this holiday season.

If you travel frequently by train for holidays with your family then this applies to you. As per a new set of revised rules, the Indian Railways will bring in a fare hike and begin charging full ticket fare for all children between the ages of 5-12 years. Earlier the fare was only half the adult fare for children of that age group.

But your holiday this year will still be unaffected as the new rule comes into effect only from April 2016! So basically if you book a reserved berth or seat for your child then you pay full fare for them. But unreserved seats will still continue to be half price. Children below the age of 5 years will still be able to travel free of cost without a berth or seat.

So in effect, your summer vacation plans may likely get a little more expensive than you thought!
