Parents Don’t Kid Yourself, Says This Dad. “It Never Gets Easier With Children!”

Suddenly, the living room, which looked so clean and organised now looks as though a hurricane has blown through it what happened here suddenly? As you walk through the mess, theres a toy that hurts your foot here and another one that pokes your other foot under the couch and how did the fruits get under the TV stand?

A few weeks ago, I wrote about how things get easier as the little ones grow older. They become more independent and therefore take a bit of the burden off of you. Ok, yes, that is true. You’re probably less worried about not understanding what they want, when they need something, etc. They can now walk around and play by themselves, all well and good right? Of course. Every parent wants that bit of freedom that comes with a growing and more independent child.

We are so focused on that little bit of independence that we actually forget what’s coming next.

For crying out loud, the kid can now walk, hold things, throw them around… and inflict more damage than they (we?) know. And that damage can be pretty wide ranging and far reaching.

Suddenly, the living room, which looked so clean and organised now looks as though a hurricane has blown through it… what happened here suddenly? Your books are now on the floor rather than on the shelf, where they should be. As you walk through the mess, there’s a toy that hurts your foot here and another one that pokes your other foot under the couch and how did the fruits get under the TV stand? Horror!
