Don’t try to raise your children the way you were raised 30 years back. ‘Coz that world, doesn’t exist now.
It is 2022 now. As we are all set to embark on 2023 to come up with parenting resolutions, here’s one. For your teens. Accept the fact that they are going to be on Instagram. Why not accept and normalise it, rather than waging a war?
In The Millennial Parent’s Guide To Instagram webinar that we conducted recently, experts spoke about what parents need to understand about the platform and prepare themselves to help their teens sail through using it for the right reasons.
Sameer Arora, Vice Principal, Shiv Nadar School, aced it when he spoke about how parents need to normalise their children getting onto Instagram once they are teens. It is going to happen and you need to prepare them (and yourself) for this he says. We can’t agree more. Show your kids that you are available to talk to them, and you have their back is the key to establishing a healthy relationship with your teens, as they grow older, ‘coz when they are in trouble, they should know that they can reach out to you.
