After their first installement of Explore London. The women behind Karma Kids are back with a kids travel book on the Capital of India.

About the book:

Karma Kids Travel – Explore Delhi is a travel guide-activity book  for kids aged between 7-12., to enable them to get the most out of their holiday. Karma the chameleon changes his avataar with every new place he visits in the city. He is a friend who addresses a childs curiosity and makes him ponder over things he would have otherwise missed.

As parents while we are expected to know everything I need to confess I don’t know so many things about Delhi! And Karma is the person who answers those innumerable questions that kids usually ask without killing their curiosity and helps to think beyond what they sees. E.g. Why was the India Gate Built? Is the Red fort really Red? How many rooms are there in the Rasthtrapati Bhavan? Sure you can Google it on the spot but the ease of a book with all the responses handy makes it a fun experience

Laid out in an easy-to-understand style with interesting information specific to a place is presented creatively and related challenges follow so that kids become actively involved rather than being passive observers. It gives a the kids knowledge about the history and political background of our country. What we absolutely love are the Chatter & challenges that Karma poses at the kids after each place of visit.

What we like:

1. Kids often get bored on vacations where yiu have abusy itinerary and if that includes historic places then most definitely.

2. The book helps prep up for the holiday and know more about the destination before they are all aboard.

3. Apart from sections on the main sites in Delhi, there are general sections about walking around town, transportation, General tips to follow at certain locations, the K+ section on other noteworthy places to visit like the Doll museum and the Planetarium and extra ‘kicks’ (challenges) for the kid to do – all of this ensures that there is always something to interest the child throughout the visit to Delhi

What we wished for?

The book while laid out in a very interesting and engaging way for kids misses to address the new attractions and few of the prominent old ones. The Stellar Childrens Museum, Kingdom of Dreams, Dilli Haat, Haus Khaus Village, Childrens Park at India Gate, Deer Park, Chandni Chowk, Crafts Museum, Sound & light Show at the Red Fort or taking the Segway ride. The National Science Centre did get a mention but missed on as a main attraction completely. Food which is a very important aspect of any new place you visit especially when the city is known for it deserved a mention and more.

Delhi is full of history, culture and lots of open spaces. We would love to know your favourite places to visit with kids in Delhi.
